Qanik DX
Qanik DX
qLMI quantum biosensor platform

A laboratory number from one drop, in three minutes.

Qanik DX measures a molecule directly by watching it bind. No amplification, no wash steps, no sample preparation. The result is quantitative, and it arrives in the doctor's office or at home instead of days later from a central lab.

The gap in diagnostics

Today you choose between a fast answer and a real number.

Every established test buys its performance by adding a step. Mass spectrometry needs a laboratory. PCR needs amplification. Lateral flow gives up the number to get speed. qLMI keeps the performance and removes the steps.

Central laboratory

Accurate, but days away

  • Venous draw, centrifuge, courier
  • Results in hours to days
  • Ordered only when symptoms appear
Rapid strip tests

Fast, but no number

  • A line, not a concentration
  • Known sensitivity limits
  • Two or three targets at most
qLMI

Fast and quantitative

  • Laboratory-class concentration
  • Minutes, from an unprepared sample
  • Several targets in one read
Technology

qLMI turns a binding event directly into light.

Quantum-Labelled Molecular Interaction brings together four disciplines: receptors designed by AI to mimic the body's own binding sites, surface chemistry that holds them in place, quantum-dot labels, and photon-counting spectral optics.

qLMI displacement mechanism A receptor anchored to the chip surface carries a quantum dot. A dye-labelled analogue sits in the binding site and glows through energy transfer. When the target molecule arrives it takes the binding site, the dye swings away on its tether, and its glow fades. CHIP SURFACE QD receptor BOUND · energy transfer on Analogue sits in the binding site; the dye glows. DISPLACED · energy transfer off Target takes the site; the tethered dye swings away. time · 0–5 min dye signal slope → conc.
  1. A receptor waits on the chip

Each receptor carries a quantum dot. A dye-labelled copy of the target sits in its binding site, tethered by a linker, and glows through resonance energy transfer.

  2. The real target displaces the copy

When the molecule you are measuring arrives, it takes the binding site. The dye swings away on its tether and its glow fades.

  3. The rate of fading gives the concentration

The reader tracks how fast the signal falls, so the answer comes from the first minutes of the reaction. A coloured or cloudy sample does not change a slope.

  4. Several targets, one drop

Each receptor type has its own colour. Because the dye stays tethered it can never reach a neighbouring site, so different tests share one chamber without interfering.

Amplification

No thermal cycling, enzymes or cold chain.

Wash steps

A one-step reaction. Nothing for the user to get wrong.

Sample prep

Whole blood and saliva go straight onto the chip.

Fluidics

No pumps, valves or metering. The cartridge is a simple carrier.

Waiting

Read from the initial rate, not a final endpoint.

The reader separates each test by its emission colour, so new tests arrive as new cartridges on the same hardware.

Applications

One platform. Two products ready to build.

The only thing that changes from one test to the next is the receptor. The same physics that measures a hormone in blood detects a virus in saliva.

MiniLab · blood biomarkers

Hormone results during the visit, then at home.

A palm-sized reader and a single-use fingerstick cartridge that measures estradiol, progesterone, testosterone and cortisol in one read. MiniLab reports total hormone, the same quantity and reference ranges physicians already use, so the number means something the moment it appears.

  • Women's health first: PCOS, fertility, perimenopause, endometriosis, thyroid, and monitoring of breast cancer endocrine therapy.
  • Razor and blade: an installed reader with recurring single-use cartridges.
  • A growing menu: 4–6 tests per cartridge; new tests need no new hardware.
Stage one · the clinic

Professional use in physician offices, fertility centres and oncology suites.

Stage two · the home

The same device for lay use, sold with a cartridge subscription.

Single-use saliva activator held below a person's mouth
BioSafety · people and places

A viral-load number from saliva, not just a line.

Spit into a single-use activator and one click filters the sample, mixes it with engineered receptors and presents it to the reader. The same approach reads swabs from floors, desks and handrails, so a facility can see where infection is present before cases are reported.

  • New pathogen, new receptor: AI-designed nanobody receptors can be built in weeks and shipped as a cartridge, not a new instrument.
  • Where blood is not welcome: schools, workplaces, care homes, transport hubs and borders.
  • Preparedness: a route into outbreak surveillance and government procurement.
The data opportunity

The first longitudinal record of human hormones.

Hormones have only ever been measured one venous draw at a time, from people who already had symptoms. A device people use at home, repeatedly, creates a dataset that does not exist anywhere today.

Trajectories, not snapshots

A cycle, a daily cortisol curve, a perimenopausal transition or a therapy response, measured over time in the same person.

Four hormones at once

Measured together from one sample, so the relationships between them can be observed rather than guessed.

Healthy populations

Data from people who are not patients changes what "normal" means, and gives AI models the training data they have never had.

Beyond the first two products

If it binds, qLMI can measure it.

Animal health

Same-visit endocrine and infection results in the vet's consulting room or in the field.

Food and agriculture

Contaminant, residue and pathogen testing in thick, cloudy samples without a laboratory.

Water and environment

Field measurement of endocrine disruptors and contaminants without sending samples away.

Therapeutic drug monitoring

Repeat quantitative measurement of narrow-margin drugs, close to the patient.

Wearables

ChronoTape, a patch concept for continuous hormone monitoring over seven days.

Countermeasures

Receptors designed to detect a pathogen are a starting point for binders that neutralise it.

Intellectual property

Granted patents that cover the method, not a single test.

The qLMI family claims the measurement itself, including kinetic quantitation, multiplexing on one surface, and reading samples with no preparation. Priority date 11 February 2019.

a protein or an oligonucleotide

That is how the claims describe the sensor molecule. A hormone receptor is a protein. A nanobody is a protein. An aptamer is an oligonucleotide. The same patents protect hormone testing, virus detection and applications nobody has built yet.
